Regenerative Property Management is excited to "guild" some of St. Lawrence Nurseries' beautiful orchard trees, teach workshop participants all about guilds, and send a guild home to support their home orchard!
Have you heard of "support" or "companion" planting? Did you know that trees can benefit from being planted with a team of support plants, referred to as a "guild," to help them grow strong, self-fertilize, confuse pests, and so much more.
Regenerative Property Management of Central New York is teaming up with St. Lawrence Nurseries to "guild" some of their orchard trees.
In this workshop, participants will learn about building soil, selecting and adding guild plants, and protecting young trees. We will work together to select and plant guilds around some of St. Lawrence Nurseries' beautiful orchard trees--be ready to get your hands in the dirt! Each participant will take home their very own guild to plant around their favorite tree at home.
Each take-home guild includes approximately 6 perennial plants and 2 bushes that work together to mulch, build soil, confuse pests, mine for nutrients, and more.
**Participants should wear sturdy work boots, bring a pair of work/gardening gloves, and a spade or shovel if you have one for planting.
**Bring a picnic lunch to enjoy at SLN, or catch the Saturday market in Potsdam following the workshop.
